On February 13, 2026, Principal Natasha Miles of Banff Community High School in Alberta issued a school-wide message urging students to take a proactive stand against bullying. The call to action was shared through the school’s “The Bear Broadcast” newsletter and focuses on empowering students to support their peers.

Principal Miles noted that it is vital for young people to feel capable of intervening in difficult situations. The school uses a framework of values to guide student behavior, which emphasizes belonging, excellence, accountability, respect, and safety.

The message arrives as the school prepares for Pink Shirt Day on February 25, 2026. This national event encourages people to wear pink to show they do not tolerate bullying and to promote inclusive environments in schools.

Students and families at the school can access support through a mental health initiative called Right From The Start. This program, provided by the Canadian Rockies Public Schools district, includes help from School and Family Wellness Worker Emily Nicholson.
