The City of Bathurst is working to keep roads and sidewalks safe through its Snow and Ice Control Program, which outlines roadway and sidewalk clearing, snow-bank pushbacks and priority emergency routes. Strong winds can loft snow and create blowing-snow conditions that reduce visibility on major routes — including Highway 11 — and make untreated roads slippery.
Officials with the Anglophone North School District (ASD‑N) say they monitor road conditions and consult transportation operators and the superintendent when deciding whether to close schools or delay bus runs. The district’s inclement-weather procedures call for decisions to be made in the early morning hours and announced by about 6:00 a.m.
