The City of Bathurst has published its 2026 Water and Sewer rate schedule on its municipal Water & Sewer page, taking effect on January 1, 2026. Residents and business owners will see a standard 5% increase aimed at funding water and sewer operations and critical infrastructure upgrades as part of a multi-year plan.

Under the new schedule, the monthly bill for a single-family home will rise from $70.12 to $73.63. This increase is part of a multi-year plan approved in the 2024–2025 budget to help fund the city’s broader municipal budget (about $54 million) and to support the water and sewer fund’s operations and capital needs; the water and sewer fund itself is roughly $8–8.8 million. The 5% increase is structured as a 2.5% operational increase and a 2.5% capital investment increase.

Owners of multi-unit buildings will also feel the impact. Rates for each unit in a 2–4 unit dwelling will climb from $55.85 to $58.64 per month, while units in buildings with five or more units will move from $50.83 to $53.37 monthly.

The city is offering a 5% early-bird discount on bills paid in full before February 28, 2026. Owners aged 65 and over who receive (or are eligible for) the Guaranteed Income Supplement are entitled to a yearly $221.80 discount, and households with annual incomes below $40,000 qualify for a new 10% discount. Payments can be made through the City’s eServices portal, by pre-authorized payment, or in person at City Hall; the municipal site also links the discount application and pre-authorized payment agreement forms.

The 2026 rate update is the second annual increase under a five-year plan to modernize Bathurst’s water and sewer system. Full details of the rate sheet and answers to customer questions are available on the municipal website.
