Residents and visitors can start planning for the 2026 holiday season as the Town of Bay Roberts in Newfoundland and Labrador has released its schedule for the annual Festival of Lights. The provincial tourism listing shows the event running from November 25 through December 31, 2026, with additional events and displays scheduled from January 1 to January 6, 2027.

The festival features the Intelligent Light Park at the Wilbur Sparkes Recreation Complex (a drive-through display with lights choreographed to music) and a pedestrian walking park at the Community Gardens. The Newfoundland and Labrador tourism listing shows activities continuing through Jan. 6; the festival traditionally concludes on Old Christmas Day (January 6). Families can visit light displays that are timed to music or take part in community breakfasts and holiday parades.

Mayor Walter Yetman told The Shoreline News the town supports these events because they draw crowds that spend money at local businesses. Ron Delaney, Director of Tourism and Economic Development for Bay Roberts, has said the festival has grown from a small local display into a major attraction. The event has also received national recognition in the past — for example, Reader’s Digest previously named Bay Roberts among Canada’s most festive communities.

The festival is funded through municipal support and local sponsorships and relies on many local volunteers who staff the Christmas Chalet and run community events. Organizers have published the dates well in advance to allow visitors and partners to plan their visits and bookings.
