The Bay Roberts Public Library, part of Newfoundland and Labrador Public Libraries (NLPL), has announced it will extend its free after-school “After School Kids Programs” into March 2026.

The sessions run every Thursday in March from 3:30 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. (March 5, 12, 19 and 26) at the Bay Roberts Public Library. Children aged 5 to 12 can take part in STEAM-based activities, makerspace/creative building projects and guided group reading sessions, according to NLPL program materials.

The extension is supported by the provincial Early Literacy Outreach Program (2023–2026), a three-year initiative backed by about $1.1 million in funding to Newfoundland and Labrador Public Libraries. NLPL and local library officials say the additional March dates were added because of high community demand and to ensure children have access to educational indoor activities during late-winter weather.

The Thursday sessions also coincide with Bay Roberts’ annual Winterfest events in early March, keeping the library a no-cost, family-friendly hub for after-school engagement.
