The provincial Department of Transportation and Infrastructure has invited residents across Newfoundland and Labrador — including people in Bay Roberts — to submit suggestions for highway work to be considered for the 2026–27 construction season. The call for input asks residents to identify specific locations that need repaving, improved drainage, or safety upgrades before next season.

Local leaders in Bay Roberts have continued to press for upgrades to the town’s main provincially owned roads, notably the Conception Bay Highway (Route 70) and the Veterans Memorial Highway (Route 75). The department has said public submissions will be compared with its own assessments and considered as part of the Multi-Year Provincial Roads Plan.

Geoff Seymour, who was acclaimed as Bay Roberts’ mayor in late 2025, and town council have publicly lobbied for greater attention to Route 70 in the provincial roads plan. MHA Pam Parsons has likewise said she wants local voices to be heard during the 2026 planning cycle.

Residents can submit suggestions and photos by email to roadsplaninput@gov.nl.ca, by mail to the Department of Transportation and Infrastructure (Attention: Director of Roads, P.O. Box 8700, St. John’s, NL A1B 4J6), or via the EngageNL portal. The department is accepting submissions through February 16, 2026 to allow time for engineering assessments and planning ahead of the upcoming construction season.
