Residents in Bay Roberts, Newfoundland and Labrador, should prepare for hazardous travel on February 10, 2026, as a mix of snow and freezing drizzle moves through the area. Environment and Climate Change Canada reports that freezing precipitation is expected to create icy surfaces on roads and sidewalks throughout the day and into the evening.

Strong north to northwest winds are forecast — around 30–40 km/h with gusts up to 60 km/h — at times through the day and into the evening. Ice accumulation on lines and equipment combined with high winds can lead to power disruptions; Newfoundland Power notes that unplanned outages can be caused by high winds, snow and ice storms and salt spray (see Newfoundland Power outage information.

The Town of Bay Roberts is responsible for sanding and salting local streets, and the town’s public works staff advise drivers to use caution on the Conception Bay Highway (Route 70), which can become especially slick during northerly wind events when sea spray can add moisture to freezing precipitation. Harbour users and owners of small boats should exercise caution: northerly gusts will make the Bay Roberts harbour choppy, and small craft are vulnerable in these conditions. Local operators and owners are advised to check moorings and bilges and to avoid taking small vessels out in the worst of the wind and freezing drizzle. These conditions are expected to remain difficult for small boats through the night before the weather system moves away from the Avalon Peninsula.
