The Beaumont City Council in Alberta has released its agenda for the January 20/21, 2026 meeting cycle to discuss how the city will address doctor shortages and manage new building projects under its latest budget. This session is the first major meeting since the city approved the 2026 Municipal Budget on Dec. 10, 2025 — a budget the city describes as more than $70 million — as it moves to deploy funds to keep pace with the community’s rapid growth.

A key part of the meeting involves the Health Services Action Plan, which was developed after a Community Health Needs Assessment found gaps in after-hours services, walk-in care and family-doctor capacity. Council members will also review progress on the Le Reve housing development and other large building projects in the northern part of the city.

Residents will see changes in their bills this year as the City of Beaumont begins implementing the 2026 budget. The approved budget includes a 3.13% municipal property tax levy plus an additional 1.88% to fund the City’s RCMP contract (a 5.01% total increase). Average households can expect their monthly utility costs to rise by about $6.87, reflecting broader utility and service maintenance and growth-related costs.

Local reporting by La Nouvelle Beaumont News has noted that this meeting comes as the city prepares for the 2026 municipal election later in the year. Residents who want to share their thoughts can submit written comments or watch the meeting online via the city’s eScribe/YouTube channels, and weekly safety updates are available from the Beaumont RCMP.
