Residents in Beaumont, Alberta, will see higher bills throughout 2026 after the local government approved the new municipal budget. On November 27, 2025, the Beaumont City Council voted for a 4.79 per cent property tax increase and higher utility rates to fund emergency services and infrastructure.

For a typical home valued at $500,000, the property tax change adds about $164.74 per year to the bill. When combined with utility rate increases of roughly $15.46 per month, the average household will pay a total of $350.30 more this year.

The budget includes funding for four new full-time staff members, specifically two firefighters and two community peace officers. The city is also putting $2.8 million into its savings accounts to help pay for road work and future maintenance projects.

Those planning new construction will also see costs rise as development fees increase by an average of 15 per cent. According to the City of Beaumont, these hikes are needed to manage the city-s fast growth and rising costs due to inflation.
