The Black Gold School Division is hosting a trades and employment fair on March 26, 2026, to help students in Beaumont, Alberta, find work and training opportunities. The event will run from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. at Leduc Composite High School for students in Grade 9 through Grade 12.

More than 60 booths will be set up with employers, trade unions, and training organizations looking to hire or train local youth. Students are encouraged to bring their resumes because many vendors will be accepting applications on the spot for summer jobs and apprenticeships.

Attendees can learn about careers in several different fields, including construction, healthcare, energy, and public safety. Organizations like the Office to Advance Women Apprentices will be there to show the variety of paths available to students in the trades.

The fair aims to help fill a shortage of skilled workers across the province by connecting students with programs like Black Gold Outreach. Families can also ask about Dual Credit options, which allow students to earn college credits while they are still in high school.

Students can also explore the Registered Apprenticeship Program, which helps them start their training as an apprentice while finishing their diploma. This event is designed to give young people a head start on their careers and a clear path into the workforce before they graduate.
