Beaumont residents can look forward to a stretch of warm, mostly sunny weather this week, according to Environment Canada. After a mix of sun and cloud Monday, sunny skies and daytime highs climbing from 23 to 28 degrees Celsius are expected through Thursday.
The forecast shows sunny skies for Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday, with daytime highs of 25, 27, and 28 degrees Celsius respectively. Overnight lows will be mild, ranging from 8 to 12 degrees through the week. Monday afternoon brings northwest winds gusting to 50 km/h before easing in the evening. The unsettled weather returns later in the week: Thursday night carries a 60 percent chance of showers, and Saturday is forecast to be cloudy with a 60 percent chance of showers and a high of just 18 degrees.
As of Monday at noon, Environment Canada reported mostly cloudy conditions at the Edmonton International Airport weather station, with temperatures near 20 degrees and northwest winds gusting to 29 km/h. No active weather alerts are in effect for the Beaumont area.
This quiet stretch follows an exceptionally wet summer across the Edmonton region. By late July, Edmonton had recorded 503.7 millimetres of rain, far surpassing the previous record of 417.1 millimetres set in 1953. In June, the City of Beaumont was under a water supply advisory due to high wastewater levels from repeated downpours. A severe thunderstorm on July 25 brought winds up to 94 km/h, flooding roads and knocking out power to 37,700 Epcor customers.
Residents planning outdoor activities can expect mostly reliable conditions Monday through Friday, before chances of showers return Saturday.
