Beausejour, MB – Families in Beausejour and the RM of Brokenhead can kick off the new year with a free Family Sunday Funday on Sunday, January 4, 2026, from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the Sun Gro Centre (Beausejour Sportsplex). The event offers post-holiday recreation just before schools and municipal offices resume on January 5.

Organized and promoted by the community-based non-profit Beausejour Brokenhead Development Corporation (BBDC) in partnership with the Brokenhead River Recreation Commission (Brokenhead River Recreation), the drop-in event is scheduled to take place at the Sun Gro Centre / Beausejour Sportsplex at 360 Veterans Lane. Admission is free; these events are often supported by BBDC grant funding. With the town office closed until January 5, this will be one of the first major community gatherings of the new year.

Attendees can expect activities that typically accompany Family Sunday Funday sessions in Beausejour, such as free public skating in the arena, inflatables and floor hockey in the gym, and unplugged board game stations in the multi-purpose rooms. Organizers note the specific 2026 activity roster will be finalized closer to the event. In past seasons the canteen has often offered complimentary hot chocolate and seasonal snacks sponsored by local businesses.

The Sun Gro Centre houses an indoor arena, a curling club and a walking track, and has increasingly been used beyond sports to host year-round social events. Past ‘Family Fun Day’ and Winterfest programming has included face painting, slime-making and crafts alongside activities for all ages.
