The Beausejour Brokenhead Development Corporation (BBDC) is seeking bakers and local makers to sign up for the 2026 Beausejour Butter Tart Festival. The event is scheduled for Saturday, May 9, 2026, at the Sun Gro Centre (Beausejour Sportsplex), 360 Veterans Lane, from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
Certified/professional bakers who want to enter the judged competition or sell as certified vendors must provide a copy of their Manitoba Health food handling permit — i.e., registration with Public Health showing the operation of an inspected commercial kitchen. Home-based bakers may sell only non-potentially hazardous (low‑risk) foods at community markets and similar events under Manitoba’s home-based food rules; they must follow the province’s farmers’ market / home-based food guidelines (including required labeling) and are often excluded from “certified” categories unless they use an inspected commercial kitchen.
The festival will also include a market for local artisans (crafts, woodworking and similar items). Admission to the event is free to the public; vendors pay a registration fee for stalls. Historical BBDC market rates have commonly ranged from $40 to $75 per table, but 2026 fees vary by booth size — vendors should consult the BBDC vendor application page or contact BBDC for current pricing.
Residents who want to volunteer for the event can sign up via the BBDC “Join Our Community Volunteer Email List” portal online. For volunteer questions, the BBDC page lists Kaitlen Cunningham, Economic Development & Marketing Officer, as a contact (bbdc@bbdcbiz.ca). Organizers say the specialized food festival aims to attract more visitors to the area and support the local economy this spring.
