A local farm expert will return to his home community to help growers plan for the upcoming season during the 39th annual Brokenhead River Agricultural Conference in Beausejour, Manitoba. Terry Buss, a well-known regional specialist, will lead a session on soybean farming at 9:15 a.m. on February 4, 2026.

The event is hosted by the Brokenhead Agricultural Society and takes place at the Brokenhead River Community Hall. This session comes at an important time for farmers in the Town of Beausejour and surrounding areas as they decide what to plant after a year of unpredictable weather.

Buss is the Production Agronomist – East with the Manitoba Pulse & Soybean Growers (MPSG) and has decades of experience working on pulse agronomy in the region. According to conference materials and MPSG, he will provide localized agronomic data on soybean variety performance and market trends to watch for 2026.

The soybean talk is supported by industry partners including Bunge and Leo’s Sales & Service (a Case IH dealer). As reported by The Western Producer — quoting Buss — soybeans have become a major crop in eastern Manitoba, with ‘half the seeded acres [in eastern Manitoba]…in beans.’

The two-day conference begins on February 3, 2026, with the first day focusing on Beef and Forages. Admission is $20 per day, which includes a hot lunch, and the doors open each morning at 8:30 a.m.
