The Canadian Power Toboggan Championships (CPTC) has announced a guaranteed $20,000 minimum purse for the Pro Champ class at its 64th annual event in Beausejour, Manitoba. The two-day championship will take place March 7–8, 2026, at the Co-op Community Complex. Organizers say the larger payout is intended to attract elite professional racers and boost the local economy by drawing more spectators.

The $20,000 guarantee for the Pro Champ class represents a significant increase from the 2025 Pro Champ Sunday payout of $17,100 and is aimed at drawing more racing teams from across Canada and the United States. Regional tourism officials and event organizers note the CPTC is the longest-running snowmobile race in the world and routinely draws thousands of visitors to the Eastman region. Organizers expect increased demand for local lodging — the Superior Inn typically sells out for race weekends — and a bump in customers for local businesses such as Vickie’s Snack Bar.

The race is a flagship stop on the USSA ProStar Cup Tour and is held on the Co-op Community Complex’s specialized 1/2-mile ice oval track, which hosts high-speed snowmobile racing. Organizers say they expect about 120+ racers to compete over the two-day weekend. Residents should be prepared for heavier traffic than usual on Highway 44 and Highway 12 as fans travel to the races.

Organizers say funding for the $20,000 Pro Champ guarantee comes from a mix of corporate sponsorship (including title sponsor FXR Racing), gate admissions, and community fundraising initiatives such as the championship raffle. CPTC President Jared Black told Global News organizers aim to provide a better show for fans while giving professional teams a stronger financial reason to travel to Beausejour.
