Environment Canada has issued a blowing snow advisory for Beausejour, Manitoba, as high winds and blowing snow are expected to make travel dangerous on February 27, 2026. The alert for the Rural Municipality of Brokenhead, including Garson, warns that visibility could drop to nearly zero during the morning and afternoon hours.

Wind gusts are predicted to reach between 60 and 80 kilometres per hour, creating hazardous conditions for drivers and school bus routes. Temperatures in the area are forecast to fall to -17°C by the afternoon, with a wind chill that will make it feel as cold as -29.

The Sunrise School Division and local road crews are monitoring the weather for possible bus cancellations and road clearing needs. Officials recommend that residents postpone any travel that is not necessary until conditions improve later in the evening.

This weather event follows a recent report from the Province of Manitoba concerning the upcoming spring season. On February 25, 2026, the government released its first outlook suggesting that the risk of flooding in the Red River Valley is currently low-to-moderate.
