Two men from Lac du Bonnet are dead following a two-vehicle collision on Highway 11 near Beausejour on the morning of March 31, 2026. The incident, which occurred near Road 84 North at 7:06 a.m., remains under investigation by the Lac du Bonnet RCMP and a forensic collision reconstructionist.

The two men, aged 71 and 66, were pronounced dead at the scene. A 71-year-old man from Beausejour, who was driving a pickup truck involved in the crash, was uninjured. His passenger, a 69-year-old woman also from Beausejour, was taken to hospital with injuries that were determined to be non-life-threatening.

Authorities believe that heavy snowfall and poor road conditions were contributing factors in the collision. Prior to the incident, Environment Canada had forecast up to 10 centimetres of snow for parts of southern Manitoba, with 10 to 15 centimetres possible in southwestern regions. While Highway 11 was temporarily closed to allow for an investigation and scene clearance, the route has since reopened.

This stretch of road has a history of serious incidents. A 50-kilometre section of Highway 11 between Lac du Bonnet and Traverse Bay is widely recognized as one of the province’s most dangerous corridors due to a high number of historical fatal collisions. The incident adds to recent concerns from the Manitoba RCMP regarding an upward trend in highway fatalities across the province.

Residents are encouraged to check Manitoba 511, managed by Manitoba Transportation and Infrastructure, for the most current road condition updates before travelling.
