The Town of Blackfalds, Alberta, released a new information guide this February to help schools, sports teams, and families plan for large group visits to the local pool this year. This guide clarifies booking requirements and safety rules to help organizers avoid last-minute problems when the Outdoor Aquatic Centre reopens for the summer season this May.
For those bringing young children, safety rules require kids aged seven and under to be within arm’s reach of a supervisor who is ready to swim at all times. Groups must also follow specific food rules, as outside meals are not allowed inside the pool area, though water and sports drinks in non-breakable containers are permitted. Visitors can buy food from the Mobile Meals & Munchies concession or eat their own food in common areas and nearby green spaces.
Organizers can book their visits by emailing the aquatics department directly at Aquatics@blackfalds.ca to ensure there is enough space for their group. General admission for a family at the Abbey Centre is $20.00 for up to five people. Additionally, registration for the Camp Curious summer day camps is set to open on May 1, 2026.
