The Town of Blind River has issued a notice that the Blind River Community Centre Arena at 110 Indiana Ave will close early on December 19, 2025. The town’s notice curtails evening ice operations — noting that holiday-hour closures at this time of year typically occur by 4:00–5:00 PM — and will affect public skating, hockey practices and private ice rentals.

The town indicates that afternoon public skating earlier in the day is expected to proceed as scheduled, while sessions later in the afternoon and evening (including Blind River Minor Hockey practices, Blind River Figure Skating Club sessions and private bookings) are expected to be cancelled. The Town’s Community Calendar will show specific cancellations and updates.

Residents with affected bookings will be contacted by email or phone about refunds, credits or alternate ice times. For the latest updates, subscribe to the Town of Blind River news page (https://www.blindriver.ca/en/news/) or check the Community Calendar (https://calendar.blindriver.ca/default/List?Community+Calendar=Arena+and+Community+Centre+).

The town traditionally adjusts municipal facility hours during the third week of December to accommodate the holidays. As an option for skaters, the Bud MacIver Outdoor Rink typically remains open until 10:00 PM, weather permitting. Questions may be directed to arena staff at 705-356-7257.
