Lorie Ligi, a 67-year-old woman from Blind River, Ontario, passed away peacefully on January 23, 2026. She spent her final days receiving end-of-life care at Maison McCulloch Hospice in Sudbury (Maison Sudbury Hospice). Her family announced the news on January 28, 2026, describing her passing as a quiet and dignified end following a period of palliative care.

Ligi was a long-time member of the Blind River community. Like many North Shore residents, she relied on regional palliative and specialized services in Sudbury when hospice or specialized care was needed. Maison McCulloch Hospice serves the Sudbury-Manitoulin region and accepts residents from smaller towns such as Spanish and Elliot Lake.

The family expressed gratitude to the hospice clinical team for the support provided during her stay, noting that the care allowed for a peaceful atmosphere for Ligi and her loved ones. The Maison McCulloch Hospice is supported by community fundraising across the region to help sustain its services.

In keeping with Lorie’s wishes, no public service will be held.
