The Senior Supper Club has officially launched in Blind River, Ontario, to provide older residents with regular home-style meals and a place to meet with friends. The program transitioned from a pilot into full-scale operations in January 2026 to ensure local seniors have access to fresh food and regular social activities.

Local business Valerie’s Kitchen 2 Go is operating the program, which holds social gatherings every Wednesday and Friday. These events take place at the Blind River Seniors’ Cultural Centre and the Blind River Community Centre, featuring professionally prepared meals alongside activities such as music, trivia and community guest speakers.

The club was created to fill a need for community dining after local service groups — including the Blind River Rotary Club, which ceased operating in late 2024 — wound down. While the North Shore Health Network continues to offer delivery services through its Meals on Wheels program, the supper club focuses on providing a sit-down experience for mobile seniors who want to get out of the house and connect with others.

The program is being positioned alongside the Town of Blind River’s “Year of Celebration” for 2026 and aligns with municipal efforts to increase community connections. Residents can register for meals or sign up to volunteer by visiting the shop at 17b Woodward Avenue, Blind River, or by calling 705-847-0155.
