Blood Tribe residents looking for work or training can connect with local employers at an Opportunity Fair on October 1, 2026, at White Calf Hall in Standoff, Alberta. The free event runs from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. and is open to all community members.
The fair is hosted by Blood Tribe Employment & Skills Training (BTEST), which updated the location details on September 3, 2026. BTEST offers career counselling, job search help, training funding, work gear assistance, and youth programs for members ages 15 to 30.
This is the second major employment event for the community after the inaugural Blood Tribe Resource Fair in April 2025 drew nearly 300 people and more than 37 information booths from Blood Tribe departments and entities. The upcoming Opportunity Fair aims to bridge the gap between job seekers and local employers while helping residents achieve independence and self-sustainability.
The Blood Tribe has faced high unemployment rates, historically estimated at 30 to 35 per cent on the reserve. BTEST has worked to address this through partnerships and new initiatives, including the Niitsitapi Employment Centre in Lethbridge, which opened May 1, 2026, with funding support from the Alberta Government and Community Futures Treaty 7.
