Residents in Brandon, Manitoba, can now access help with provincial income benefits twice a week without needing an appointment. The 7th Street Health Access Centre is partnering with the Manitoba Department of Families to offer drop-in support for the Employment and Income Assistance (EIA) program.
This help is available every Monday and Thursday between 1:00 p.m. and 3:00 p.m. at the downtown building located at 20 – 7th Street. The service allows people to speak directly with staff about financial benefits and employment help during a single visit.
Prairie Mountain Health says the goal is to make these services easier to reach for everyone in the community. By offering walk-in hours, the program removes the need for phone calls or internet access, which can be a barrier for some residents.
The 7th Street Health Access Centre has been serving the community since it first opened in June 2004. It provides medical care and social services to seniors, newcomers, and people living in the downtown area.
