The Brandon Regional Health Centre Auxiliary has contributed $304,000 to purchase 30 pieces of capital medical equipment for the Brandon Regional Health Centre and the Western Manitoba Cancer Centre in Brandon, Manitoba. Prairie Mountain Health announced the contribution in its November 2025 donations bulletin; the funding supports replacement of end‑of‑life equipment and the purchase of new diagnostic tools to improve patient comfort and reduce invasive procedures.
A large portion of the funds went toward 19 new beds for the A3 unit and eight maternity unit beds to modernize labour and delivery. The new beds are intended to improve patient safety and staff ergonomics, reducing the risk of injury to nurses and other caregivers.
The donation also covered two bladder scanners and an ultrasound for PICC placement. Prairie Mountain Health said the bladder scanners provide quick, non‑invasive measurements of urine volume and help prevent unnecessary catheterizations, while the ultrasound assists with peripherally inserted central catheter (PICC) placement and helps avoid repeated needle sticks during long‑term treatments.
All of the funds for these purchases were raised by local volunteers through the Auxiliary’s Nearly New Shop (a second‑hand store) and the BRHC gift shop, the Auxiliary and Prairie Mountain Health say. The Auxiliary’s volunteer‑run retail operations have been a long‑standing source of capital support for the hospital.
Prairie Mountain Health and the Brandon Regional Health Centre thanked the BRHC Auxiliary for its continued support, noting the contribution benefits patients across Western Manitoba.
