The Brandon Police Service reported a busy midweek update with several arrests and a vehicle recovery documented in their daily update for April 1, 2026. Officers from the patrol section handled two separate assault investigations and executed five arrest warrants during the previous 24 hours.
On March 31, police responded to a disturbance in the 000 block of Princess Avenue East where they arrested an adult male. He faces charges of assault, uttering threats, and failing to pay for cab fare. In a separate incident that same day, officers were called to a residence regarding an assault involving family members. An adult female was arrested in connection to that event, held until sober, and later released with conditions to attend court.
Additionally, authorities confirmed that five individuals were arrested on outstanding warrants, with four of those people held for court appearances. Officers also recovered a stolen vehicle on March 31, and that investigation remains ongoing.
These incidents occur as the community continues to monitor local public safety trends. While the violent crime severity index in Brandon rose by 18 per cent in 2024, recent data shows that actual assault-related calls for service have seen a slight decrease of less than one per cent.
