Brandon University in Brandon, Manitoba, has launched a new resource called the Confidence Closet to give students free professional clothes for job interviews and networking events. The program provides donated items like suits, blazers, and dress shoes to help students overcome the high cost of buying a work wardrobe.
This project is led by the school’s Faculty of Education and the BU Co-operative Education Program. It arrives as a record 72 students are participating in the university’s work-placement season this year, which is the largest group in the program’s history.
A local business owner and graduate, Shae Worthington from Hippie Thrift, helped organize the collection to make sure the clothing is modern and professional. Students can select their new outfits at a special campus event on February 6, 2026.
Organizers say the closet is designed to remove a small but meaningful hurdle for those entering the workforce. By providing these items for free, the campus community is helping students feel more prepared and confident when they walk into their first interviews.
