The City of Brandon has closed a portion of 20th Street on January 28, 2026, so municipal crews can finish urgent maintenance in the area. The closure affects the 200-block of 20th Street, specifically around 260 20th Street. (See the City’s official Road Closures portal)

This section of the road sits between Louise Avenue and Lorne Avenue and is adjacent to the western edge of the Brandon University campus, near student residences and the School of Music. Because this is a busy area for students and nearby apartment residents, the city is asking motorists to use alternate routes until the work is finished.

According to the City of Brandon’s Official Road Closures map, crews estimate the street will remain closed for 24 to 48 hours. The City described the work as “maintenance.” In Brandon, mid-winter closures like this are often caused by emergency utility repairs — for example, water-main or sewer repairs — or other frost-related infrastructure stabilization.

Bus passengers may notice changes to their usual stops; updated information and any temporary detours are posted by Brandon Transit. Drivers can also consult Manitoba 511’s Brandon region page for live traffic and road-condition updates.
