The Brandon Police Service arrested a 32-year-old man on February 2, 2026, after a report of theft at a business in the city’s north end. Police say the call came at approximately 6:54 p.m. for a theft in the 800 block of 18th Street North. Officers located the suspect shortly afterward on Kirkaldy Drive and found about $112 worth of stolen merchandise in his possession.
A records check showed the man was wanted on an outstanding warrant; he was lodged in Brandon Police Service detention cells and held to appear in court on the morning of February 3, 2026, according to a Brandon Police Service news release posted on the City of Brandon website.
The arrest comes amid the Brandon Police Service’s Retail Theft Initiative, an increased enforcement effort targeting retail theft in commercial corridors such as 18th Street. Chief Tyler Bates has said early results from the initiative show there is a persistent need for targeted enforcement to protect local businesses.
