Educators from across Westman will gather in Brandon, Manitoba on Friday, February 13, 2026, for a one‑day, hands‑on professional development event focused on integrating new technologies into K‑12 classrooms. BYTE (Build Your Teaching Experience) is Manitoba’s longest‑running professional development conference for K‑12 educators and will host a program of keynote and breakout workshops for teachers, administrators (including principals), clinicians and pre‑service teachers.
The conference uses two Brandon venues: keynote and large plenary sessions will take place at the Western Manitoba Centennial Auditorium, while breakout workshops are scheduled in the Brandon University Faculty of Education building. Attendees can expect small‑group workshops on topics such as artificial intelligence literacy, digital pedagogy and digital literacy, STEM integration, and practical uses of classroom technologies including tablets and virtual‑reality tools.
The training comes as many school divisions navigate new rules and policies around student device use and the safe classroom use of digital tools. Organizers from the BYTE Committee say the event’s goal is to help teachers stay current with technology and strategies that support learning in a modern classroom.
Registration for the one‑day conference is being handled through Eventbrite. Regional divisions that typically send staff include the Brandon School Division and the Southwest Horizon School Division, among others. While BYTE historically rotated between communities across Western Manitoba, the conference has used Brandon University and the Western Manitoba Centennial Auditorium in recent years to take advantage of larger facilities and simplified logistics.
