The 53rd Annual Tournament of Champions is bringing minor hockey back to the Brandon Community Sportsplex in Brandon, Manitoba, in early February 2026. This year’s event will host 87 teams in the U11, U13 and U15 divisions, marking a return to the city’s primary municipal rink after three years of building repairs that closed the arena in March 2023.

Organizers from Hockey Brandon say having the facility available again means they can keep more games within city limits. In previous years, a lack of ice space forced many families to travel to rinks in surrounding communities such as Carberry and Souris.

The return follows a $3.5-million project to replace the arena’s ice plant — funded through a municipal borrowing bylaw — which was completed in time for the Sportsplex’s reopening on Oct. 1, 2025. The province announced a $235,000 grant on Jan. 20, 2026 to resurface the Sportsplex parking lot.

With more than 1,500 visitors expected, the tournament will use both the Sportsplex and Westoba Place (Keystone Centre) as main hubs for the two-week event. Families attending the games are encouraged to look for updated parking and shuttle information as the city prepares for one of its busiest sports events of the year.
