The YMCA of Brandon is opening registration for its spring and summer programs to all residents, regardless of whether they have a membership. This shift allows more people to access local fitness classes, swimming lessons, youth activities, and family programs as the warmer season begins.

Located at 231 8th Street, the organization has served the community since 1886. The current facility, known as the Dood Cristall Family YMCA, first opened in 2013 and offers a variety of health and recreation spaces. According to the YMCA of Brandon’s mission statement, the organization remains focused on providing quality programs that support the development of spirit, mind, and body.

Residents who choose not to purchase a recurring membership can register for programs online or pay daily fees. Daily costs for non-members range from $9.00 for children and teens to $39.00 for families, with other categories available. For those interested in ongoing access, membership options are available with bi-weekly rates starting at $19.50 for children and going up to $63.00 for families, with no long-term contracts required.

As a charitable organization, the YMCA of Brandon maintains a policy to ensure no one is turned away due to an inability to pay. Financial assistance is available to support residents who require help with program fees. The organization continues to expand its reach, including support from the Manitoba government, which invested $1.2 million to double the capacity of the Y Downtown Early Learning Centre from 48 to 96 spaces.

In addition to these programs, the facility has adjusted its operations to prioritize safety. As of January 2026, doors are locked between 5:30 AM and 8:00 AM on weekdays. According to leadership, this is a proactive measure to protect staff and members arriving early in the morning.

More information regarding the full list of offerings, including aquatics and child care, is available through the YMCA of Brandon website.
