Brantford-area families and Indigenous community members now know when they can take part in the Grand Erie District School Board’s Indigenous Education Advisory Committee meetings next year. The IEAC will meet on February 19, April 16 and June 11, 2026, and the board has just posted the full package from its October 23, 2025 meeting online.
Meetings usually take place at the Grand Erie Education Centre, 349 Erie Avenue in Brantford, and stream live via Microsoft Teams. All agendas, reports and livestream links are available on the GEDSB meeting calendar. The October package highlights work on student self-identification, boosting Indigenous language classes and expanding land-based learning opportunities.
Community members who wish to address the committee must submit a written request at least seven days before a meeting. Requests go to the Director of Education’s office at info@granderie.ca and should include the speaker’s name and delegation topic. Full details are on the IEAC home page.
The IEAC brings together board leaders, elders and representatives from Six Nations of the Grand River and the Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation. Guided by Policy P-02 (Honouring Indigenous Knowledges, Histories and Perspectives) and the board’s Multi-Year Strategic Plan, the committee reviews curriculum changes, reconciliation initiatives and supports designed to improve outcomes for Indigenous students across Grand Erie.
