On December 10, 2025, the Brantford Police Service arrested two men after a site supervisor on Erie Avenue reported thousands of dollars’ worth of electrical wiring stolen from a generator that was powering a nearby construction project.

According to a CHCH News report, the theft was called in at about 7:40 a.m., capping a week-long string of break-ins at the fenced-in site. Investigators say the suspects climbed a locked perimeter fence and removed electrical wiring from a generator; officers later seized break-and-enter tools and clothing suspected to have been worn during the offences. Police say the wiring was likely harvested for resale as scrap metal.

Around 8:33 a.m., officers found a 48-year-old and a 42-year-old at the rear fence of a nearby scrap-metal facility. They face multiple charges, including break-and-enter with intent; theft under $5,000; mischief under $5,000; possession of stolen property under $5,000; possession of break-in instruments; and three counts of failing to comply with release orders, according to CTV Kitchener.

Police say the swift arrests reflect the Brantford Police Service’s focus on monitoring secondary metal markets to curb industrial theft. The three counts of failing to comply with release orders indicate the men were subject to judicial release conditions at the time of the alleged offences; they are being held pending a bail hearing as the investigation continues and as police work with site managers to prevent further losses.
