The Brantford Police Service is asking for the public’s help following a fatal two-vehicle collision in Brantford on Tuesday, March 24, 2026. The incident occurred at the intersection of Charing Cross Street and North Park Street at approximately 10:40 a.m., resulting in the death of a local man in his 70s.

Investigators determined that one of the vehicles involved was travelling on North Park Street when it struck and knocked down a hydro pole. This impact caused a power outage for approximately 5,600 GrandBridge Energy customers in the area. Following the initial collision with the pole, the vehicle was involved in a secondary crash with another vehicle inside the intersection.

Emergency responders from the Brantford Police Service, Brant-Brantford Paramedics, and the Brantford Fire Department arrived on the scene to assist. The injured driver was transported to the hospital, where he was later pronounced deceased. The intersection remained closed for several hours while officers conducted their investigation, and crews worked through the day to replace the damaged equipment and restore power.

The Brantford Police Service Traffic Unit is continuing to look into the circumstances of the crash. They are urging anyone who may have witnessed the event or who has dashcam or surveillance video from the area of North Park Street between Morton Avenue and Charing Cross Street to come forward. Witnesses are asked to contact the lead investigator, Constable Shane Seibert, at 519-756-0113 extension 2204.
