On January 26, 2026, a major winter storm has closed all schools within the Brant Haldimand Norfolk Catholic District School Board in Brantford, Ontario. The closure comes after heavy snow made roads dangerous for travel, leading officials to cancel all bus service, daycare programs, and community events for the day.
The snow has caused a change for high school students at Assumption College School who were set to begin their final exams. Tests originally planned for Monday will now be written on Tuesday, January 27, which moves the rest of the exam schedule back by one day for the remainder of the week.
The Student Transportation Services Brant Haldimand Norfolk stopped all buses across the region after weather experts warned of unsafe driving conditions. School board officials say they chose to close buildings to keep students and staff safe while the storm passes through the area.
Principal Phil De Bruyne is encouraging families with students who have scheduling conflicts because of the delay to send an email to the school office. Staff will work with families to make other arrangements for students once the buildings reopen and the exams continue.
