The 16th annual Gift from the Heart Radiothon in Bridgewater, Nova Scotia, concluded on February 13, 2026, with a final fundraising total of $182,342.79. This yearly event brings the community together to raise money for local medical services and equipment that help patients receive care closer to home.
The 12-hour broadcast was a joint effort between the Health Services Foundation of the South Shore and local radio stations CKBW and Country 100.7. This year, the money raised will help bring breast MRI technology to the region, providing patients with better access to advanced medical screening and early detection.
A portion of the funds will also support the South Shore Regional Hospital, which is currently undergoing a 112.7-million-dollar redevelopment. This project is expanding the hospital footprint by 30 per cent and includes the addition of 12 dialysis beds and a new emergency department.
The money will also help local students through the South Shore Bursary Program, which provides financial aid to those training for healthcare careers. According to Arleen Stevens, the foundation CEO, the community support is essential for outfitting the new hospital spaces with the latest medical tools.
