Patients and visitors at the South Shore Regional Hospital in Bridgewater, Nova Scotia, should expect noise and minor disruptions on March 18 and March 19, 2026, due to ongoing construction. The activity is part of a long-term project to update and grow the facility to meet the needs of the local area.

Nova Scotia Health is advising people to plan their visits carefully and leave extra time to get to their appointments. While the work might cause some noise, hospital staff are working to keep the impact on patient care as small as possible.

The South Shore Regional Hospital Redevelopment Project first began in 2021 and is being finished in several stages. Officials expect the entire project to be completed between 2025 and 2027 at a total cost of approximately $115 million.

According to information shared by the Town of Bridgewater, the hospital will be about 30 percent larger once the work is done. These upgrades include a bigger emergency department and new spaces for dialysis and other medical services.
