Residents in Brockville, Ontario, can expect more stable electrical service after members of the Society of United Professionals (SUP) — the union representing about 2,100 professional and supervisory employees at Hydro One — ratified a new collective agreement. The ratification was announced by Hydro One on Jan. 30, 2026.
The agreement, which takes effect retroactively from Oct. 1, 2025, runs to Mar. 31, 2028 and covers engineers, supervisors and other professional staff across Hydro One’s operations in Ontario. The Society-represented group includes employees who work at Hydro One’s Brockville Operations Centre (26 Front Ave. W).
By finalizing the agreement, the company and the union removed the immediate risk of a strike or lockout that could have impeded outage response or repairs during storms and winter emergencies. The collective agreement includes work-rule and staffing-flexibility changes intended to give frontline supervisors greater authority over crew deployments — adjustments the parties say will help improve outage restoration and project delivery.
Those changes are expected to speed progress on local infrastructure work that requires Hydro One engineering sign-off, such as the ongoing 44 kV electrical upgrades for Brockville’s Memorial Centre (MURF).
David Lebeter, President and Chief Executive Officer of Hydro One, said: “Thank you to the Society leadership and the bargaining teams for their efforts to reach a fair and balanced outcome. This agreement recognizes the important contributions of our employees while ensuring we remain focused on delivering value and reliability for our customers.”
The Society of United Professionals, led by President Rebecca Caron, said the union works collaboratively with employers to negotiate collective agreements that are fair for members and that support reliable service for communities.
