A 46-year-old Burlington man has been charged with first-degree murder after a woman was found dead in an apartment on Glencrest Road on the morning of September 10, 2026. Halton Regional Police say officers were called to 3020 Glencrest Rd., near Guelph Line, at about 6:30 a.m. to check on the well-being of a female occupant. Inside, they found a woman in her 40s deceased. No one else was in the apartment.
Police quickly identified a suspect who had left before they arrived. They tracked him to the Niagara Falls area, where Niagara Regional Police arrested him at approximately 7:45 a.m., just over an hour after the initial call. The suspect was later charged with one count of first-degree murder. Due to a publication ban, police cannot release his name.
According to Const. Ryan Anderson of the Halton Regional Police, the victim and the accused knew each other. He said there is no risk to the public and investigators are not looking for any other suspects. Anderson also confirmed the wellness check was requested by a family member of the victim.
This is the second homicide in Halton Region in 2026, Anderson said. The investigation is being handled by the Major Crime Bureau. Anyone with information is asked to contact the bureau or Crime Stoppers anonymously.
The Halton Regional Police Service continues to investigate. No further details about the victim or the circumstances of her death have been released.
