Burlington families will get a first look at the Halton District School Board’s plans for the 2026–27 budget at a virtual public information session on Monday, January 19, 2026, at 7 p.m. Materials and opportunities to provide input will also be available through the HDSB budget and financial information page.
During the session, board officials will explain the provincial funding model, outline spending priorities and gather feedback. Director of Education Curtis Ennis and Superintendent of Business Services and Treasurer Roxana Negoi will lead the presentation and answer questions from attendees.
According to the HDSB board report, the board submitted a $7.1-million deficit budget for the 2025–26 school year and faces ongoing pressures from declining enrolment, rising costs and limited provincial funding increases.
The session marks the start of a public survey open January 19 to January 30. Feedback will help shape decisions on staffing, course offerings, transportation and extracurricular programs at Burlington high schools such as Aldershot, Burlington Central and M. M. Robinson.
The HDSB must submit a balanced budget to the Ministry of Education by June 2026. Families who cannot attend can review materials and submit input on the board’s budget and financial information page.
