The Kitikmeot Inuit Association (KIA) is recruiting for a full-time, indeterminate (permanent) Communications Coordinator based at its head office in Cambridge Bay, Nunavut. The hiring is part of KIA’s 2026 Strategic Plan to communicate more regularly with beneficiaries about local programs and regional news.
The person in this role will support the association’s social media and community outreach — including management of the KIA Facebook page — help with community meetings, and ensure information is shared in Inuinnaqtun and Inuktitut. KIA President James Eetoolook said the organization will be recruiting and hiring more staff in 2026 to better represent the interests of the Kitikmeot, its land and the people who live there.
The hiring comes after a difficult period for the association, including the losses of former President Robert (Bobby) Greenley and Vice President Attima Hadlari in 2025, and a stretch when KIA’s original web presence went offline (roughly 2022–2024). With a new website relaunched, the KIA intends to provide more regular updates on issues such as employment opportunities at nearby mining operations (for example, the B2Gold Goose Gold Mine) and local land-management matters.
The association is prioritizing local, direct hires for the position so that messaging better reflects community needs and language preferences. That approach aligns with KIA’s stated objective to strengthen Inuit employment and with broader regional initiatives to increase Inuit participation in the workforce.
Interested applicants should consult the KIA website and social channels for application details and job requirements.
