The City of Cambridge, Ontario, has declared a Snow Event and banned on-street parking until noon on Tuesday, January 27, 2026, to give plow crews enough space to clear the roads. The declaration follows a winter storm that dropped about 15 centimetres of snow in parts of the area and triggered the Snow Event starting at 8 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 25.
City officials say the parking ban is necessary so crews can clear streets curb to curb. According to the City of Cambridge, keeping streets free of parked vehicles allows plows to clear priority routes that support emergency services and public transit, including Grand River Transit (GRT).
Vehicles left on city streets during the Snow Event may be ticketed under the by-law with a set fine of $80 and may be towed at the owner’s expense. Enforcement is being carried out by City of Cambridge bylaw officers, who are patrolling priority routes to ensure plows can get through without being blocked by parked cars.
For residents who do not have a driveway or private parking spot, the city recommends using municipal public lots where overnight parking is permitted. A full list of these locations is available on the City of Cambridge parking map to help residents find a safe place to park while cleanup continues.
