The Waterloo Regional Police Service announced on February 15, 2026, the arrest of a man in connection with a robbery at a business in Waterloo. The update comes as police continue to investigate a string of recent commercial crimes that have affected convenience stores and shops in the area.

On February 14, 2026, officers were called to a store in Waterloo just after 5:15 p.m. to investigate a robbery. Police located a suspect nearby and placed him under arrest at approximately 5:20 p.m., within five minutes of the initial call.

This arrest is being shared alongside updates on an armed robbery that occurred on February 5, 2026, at a store near Elgin Street North and Linwood Avenue in Cambridge. Investigators are also looking into several lottery ticket thefts that happened between January 15 and February 11, 2026. These thefts took place at businesses on Beverly Street, King Street, and Hespeler Road in Cambridge, where someone ripped ticket displays off the counters.

Chief of Police Mark Crowell has stated that the department is utilizing proactive enforcement, including initiatives like Project Orchard, to help keep local businesses safe. This effort also led to the arrest of a 49-year-old man on February 12, 2026, for stealing snowblowers from a business on Pinebush Road in Cambridge.
