The Waterloo Regional Police Service (WRPS) is investigating an assault that occurred Monday evening, Feb. 9, 2026, on Queen Street West in the Hespeler Village area of Cambridge. Police say they responded to the scene at approximately 7:00 p.m.
As of Feb. 10, WRPS said suspects remain at large and that no suspect descriptions or details about the victim’s condition have been released. Increased patrols have been deployed in the Hespeler commercial corridor while investigators follow up on leads.
Investigators are asking anyone who was in the Queen Street West commercial area between 6:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. to contact police and to provide any security camera or dashcam footage that could assist the investigation.
This stretch of Queen Street West is a busy hub for transit users and shoppers in Hespeler Village. The Hespeler Village BIA represents many of the local businesses on the street. WRPS investigators are working to determine whether the people involved knew one another or if the incident was random.
Anyone with information is asked to contact Waterloo Regional Police Service. (Note: use the official WRPS media release or WRPS newsroom link for the incident when available.)
