Camrose County Council finalized its 2026 budget on April 14, greenlighting a total spending plan of over $58 million to cover daily operations and infrastructure projects. The approved financial plan includes a $46.4 million operating budget and nearly $12 million for capital projects, funded by a combination of government revenue, grants, and municipal property taxes.
As part of the budget process, the Camrose County Council approved the 2026 Property Tax Rate By-law. This change results in a 2% increase for farmland and a 1% increase for residential, non-residential, industrial, linear, and machinery and equipment properties.
A significant portion of the capital budget is dedicated to urgent road repairs. Council allocated $1 million to reconstruct Bridge File 7603 on Range Road 205, also known as Aberhart Road. The bridge was recently restricted to a 5-tonne weight limit due to rapid structural deterioration, and this funding will allow for necessary reconstruction to restore full capacity.
In addition to infrastructure, the county increased its support for emergency services. The annual contribution to the STARS air ambulance service will rise from $2 per resident to a flat rate of $18,500. This partnership has been in place since 1995 to help ensure air medical services remain available for rural community members.
