The Town of Canmore, AB, is launching a free Youth Drop‑In program for ages 10–14 at the Family Connection Centre, 600A 9 Street. The sessions are scheduled on Tuesdays from 3:45 to 5:30 p.m., running weekly from January 21 to March 31, 2026; families should confirm the schedule and registration on the Town’s Family Connection Centre calendar.

The drop‑in provides a safe after‑school space at a time when high living costs have limited families’ options for paid activities. The program is intended to address the so‑called “middle years” gap (ages 10–14) by giving local youth a low‑barrier place to connect without registration fees.

Participants can expect recreational activities, group projects, mentorship and one‑on‑one support from Social Connection Specialists and Youth Family Support Workers. The Town’s Family and Community Support Services (FCSS) is funding and managing the drop‑in through the Family Connection Centre.

Families planning after‑school care can now count on a weekly resource offering mentorship, social support and opportunities to build resilience. The drop‑in complements recent shifts that made the Family Connection Centre a Family Resource Network (FRN) hub for the region, allowing more tailored programs for local children and youth.
