The Town of Canmore Fire Rescue is inviting applications for its upcoming Camp Summit, a three-day firefighting program taking place from May 15 to May 17, 2026.
The program aims to introduce participants to the fire service through hands-on training and simulated fire ground exercises. The camp is specifically designed for people from underrepresented communities, including Indigenous peoples, racialized communities, persons with disabilities, 2SLGBTQIA+ individuals, and women.
To be eligible, applicants must be at least 17 years old by the start date of the camp. Participants cannot be currently employed by a fire department, and they must not have attended Camp Summit in the past. The program is limited to 20 participants.
The registration fee for successful candidates is $75, though financial assistance is available for those who need it. The fee covers meals, water, and a hat for the duration of the camp. The program is supported in part by funding from the Rocky Mountain Outlook and IAFF Local 4705.
Those interested in participating must submit their applications by April 24, 2026, at 4:30 p.m. MST. Candidates will be notified of their acceptance by phone or email no later than April 27, 2026.
