Canmore families with children at Lawrence Grassi Middle School were notified that the Eagle Bus route was cancelled due to a driver shortage on Dec. 17, 2025. The CRPS Bus Status update for the Eagle route reads: “Eagle Bus cancelled no driver available. Combined with other routes” (updated Dec. 17, 2025). Parents on affected stops should check the Bus Status app and the school’s notices and arrange alternate transportation if needed.

The Canadian Rockies Public Schools (CRPS) Bus Status page shows the Eagle route listed as cancelled while most other routes are marked “On Time” as of the Dec. 17 update. CRPS transports over 1,250 Bow Valley students each day, and the district is working to combine Eagle passengers onto neighbouring routes where capacity allows.

The Eagle route is one of approximately 15 animal-named routes listed on the CRPS Bus Status page (examples include Elk, Bunny, Camel, Elephant, Hawk, Kangaroo, Lion, Lobster, Monkey, Rhino, Swan, Turtle, Whale and Alligator). CRPS has not released exact numbers of students affected. Dossier and local reports indicate some families in the Eagle area have experienced longer commutes and tighter seating on the remaining buses.

CRPS is recruiting on-call spare drivers and offers training through its licensed driving school to fill gaps among Class 2 operators. The district emphasizes that student safety is its top priority and urges families to monitor updates on the Lawrence Grassi Middle School site and the CRPS transportation page.
