The Town of Canmore, Alberta, is asking for resident feedback on new plans that will shape how people travel and use parks in the community through 2040. From March 17 to April 17, 2026, the town is launching a public consultation process to update its transportation, open spaces, and land-use rules.
These updates are part of an initiative called People, Places, and Pathways led by the Town of Canmore. The project includes a new transportation plan to replace the current version from 2018, along with a strategy for trails and parks and a rewritten Land Use Bylaw, which are the rules that govern how land can be developed.
Residents can participate in three online webinars starting March 23, 2026, to learn about each specific part of the plan. There will also be an in-person information night at the Canmore Brewing Company on April 13, 2026, from 5:30 p.m. to 8 p.m.
The goal of these changes is to coordinate how the town grows while managing traffic, transit, and park design for the next 14 years. These updates aim to address current growth and the changing needs of residents moving through the Bow Valley.
