The Home Depot Canada Foundation is offering Youth Opportunity Grants of up to $75,000 to help local charities in Canmore, Alberta, and across the country prevent and end youth homelessness.

Local non-profit organizations have until March 6, 2026, to apply for the funding, which focuses on providing stable housing, job training, and life-skills programs. The grants are intended to help young people who are currently without a home or those who are at risk of losing their housing.

In a high-cost community like Canmore, youth often experience “hidden homelessness” by living in vehicles or moving between temporary couches. Groups such as the Homelessness Society of the Bow Valley (HSBV) have highlighted the ongoing need for year-round shelter and housing support in the area, noting that the community would benefit from a permanent program to supplement current seasonal emergency services.

According to the Town of Canmore, the high cost of local living creates significant challenges for young workers trying to afford a place to live. The foundation aims to use these funds to create long-term, systemic changes by investing in housing and employment readiness programs for youth.
